St. Mary’s Healthcare System for
Children Board Elects Cindy Johnson Chairperson
Cindy
S. Johnson, a leading donor and long-time board member, was recently elected as
the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors of St. Mary’s Healthcare System
for Children.
“We are proud to have Cindy lead us during St. Mary’s next growth
phase,” said Burton Grebin, M.D., President and CEO. “Her strategic
vision and unwavering commitment to the children of St. Mary’s make her
an ideal chairperson.”
Johnson is a resident of Scarsdale, New York for more than 30 years with her
husband Tod and children, Scott and Stacey. Continuing her family’s philanthropic
legacy Johnson states, “I have always believed it is important to give back
to the community you live in.”
An avid collector of contemporary art and a docent at the Neuberger Museum
of Art at Purchase College, Johnson has also been involved with the Guggenheim
Museum, White Plains Auxiliary, and Scarsdale Family Counseling Services. Johnson
was born in Larchmont, New York, and is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.
According to Johnson, “St. Mary’s is an extraordinary organization
that is setting the standard for the rest of the country with its innovative treatment
programs for children who are very, very sick. However, to meet the needs of our
growing patient population we must attract leading specialists and continue to
upgrade our medical equipment and facilities. This is our challenge and mandate
on behalf of generations of children and their families who will turn to St. Mary’s
in their hour of greatest need. And St. Mary’s will be there for them thanks
to the help of our generous and loyal friends.”
