Employee Spotlight: Kristie Chan, Registered Nurse
At St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children, our team is the heart of everything we do. This month, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on Kristie Chan, a dedicated Registered Nurse whose compassion and commitment make a difference every day.
1. What do you find most rewarding about working at St. Mary’s?
Seeing the kids smile from the work and effort you put into your care is the most rewarding. Focusing on making them smile or laugh during their stay at St Mary’s makes this line of work so much more fun.
2. In what ways do you collaborate with others in your organization/team?
I get to collaborate with CNA’s and Respiratory Therapists. Each shares their own knowledge and experience to provide good patient-centered care.
3. In your opinion, what sets St. Mary’s apart from other employers in the industry?
St Mary’s patient population is so unique, and it is amazing to have a skilled nursing facility for kids. All the staff members truly take such amazing care of all the kids here.
4. What advice would you give to someone starting out in your field or looking to advance their career?
Give yourself time to learn and adjust to a new job, and don’t compare yourself to others. Life is a marathon not a race.
