St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children is a pioneer in pediatric traumatic brain injury (TBI) treatment and research.

TBI Treatment That’s Comprehensive—and Compassionate

Home to New York City’s first certified TBI program for children established more than 20 years ago, St. Mary’s treats patients from infancy to young adults with cognitive and physical disabilities related to an injury to the brain from an accident, illness, infection, cancer, or stroke. Neuro-rehab works toward reintegrating children with a TBI back into the community while focusing on meeting patients’ goals to improve or manage their conditions.

Comprised of neuropsychology, physiatry, and physical and occupational therapy, in collaboration with nursing, therapeutic recreation, speech/language pathology, respiratory therapy, and social work, this truly dynamic program combines an interdisciplinary team of caring professionals with cutting-edge technology to help accelerate recovery.

In fact, no other single facility has all of the comprehensive, sophisticated equipment St. Mary’s does—all under one roof. This includes state-of-the-art technology made possible through the support of the New York City Council.
