St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children is fortunate to have a community of big-hearted volunteers who graciously dedicate their valuable time so we can continue to offer the healing programs, technology and support our little patients need—and deserve.
All volunteers—who must be at least 14 years old—are screened, interviewed, trained, evaluated on a consistent basis and, when necessary, assisted by our department managers and volunteer coordinator.
Our volunteer coordinator works with volunteers to determine the best use of their talents:
Friendly Visitors hold infants and toddlers, providing sensory touch, song or reading. They also stroll the infant/toddler in the patient neighborhoods.
Recreation Assistants use interactive play, music, dance, art or reading to entertain patients.
There also are opportunities to work in one of our offices or on special short-term assignments.
High school students who need to perform community service for class can fulfill those requirements and make a difference when they volunteer at St. Mary’s.
Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of St. Mary’s Kids?

Once your application and supporting materials have been received and reviewed, St. Mary’s will contact eligible applicants when there is a need for new volunteers. Contacted applicants will be asked to grant permission for St. Mary’s to conduct a background check (if 18 and older).
