Special Needs Preschool

The preschool at St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children is one of the only preschools in New York dedicated to educating children with the most complex medical conditions. Parents and staff work closely together to provide a safe, happy, and nurturing environment for each child to flourish.

Aligned with NYS Learning Standards

With self-contained special needs classrooms (8:1:2,12:1:2), our developmentally appropriate program aligns with all state standards. In order to meet the specific needs of each student, special education teachers use project core and multi-modal approaches to develop lessons.

Multidisciplinary Special Education Team

Each student in our program benefits from a team approach that includes special educators, speech-language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, and teaching assistants. Students and families also have access to social workers, psychologists, and opportunities for referral to other St. Mary’s programs.
