Author, Karen Winnick visits with St. Mary’s Kids

On October 11th, the toddler patients of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children received a special treat when Karen Winnick, author of numerous children’s books, visited our facility to be a special guest reader for Toddler Story Time. During the Toddler Story Time session, Karen read aloud two of her animal-themed books to the children: Good Night Baby Animals – You’ve Had a Busy Day and Barn Sneeze.

A great time was had by all as the toddlers learned about all kinds of zoo animals and barn animals described in Karen’s books. Afterwards, the toddlers participated in an arts & crafts activity about all the new animals they learned about.

In addition, Karen generously gave each toddler their very own animal puppet to keep. Karen also generously donated two of her other books for the older children at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children: Gemina and How Lucky Got His Shoe, both of which are about animals with disabilities.

St. Mary’s was delighted to have Karen as its very first children’s author participant in Toddler Story Time, and we are immensely appreciative of all her generosity to St. Mary’s Kids!
