St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children Announces 2019 Tribute Dinner Honoree

The Annual Tribute Dinner is St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children‘s largest fundraiser encompassing the construction, development, real estate and financial industries.  The attendees are CEO’s, philanthropists, business leaders and prominent individuals who have a keen interest in children with special needs, pediatric healthcare and the under-served.  Each year, the Tribute Dinner proves more spectacular with the unveiling of the newest accomplishments of St. Mary’s innovative programs and services for medically fragile children. St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children and Event Chairmen, Jeffrey Levine, Levine Builders/Douglaston Development and Vincent Riso, The Briarwood Organization are proud to announce St. Mary’s Honoree for the 2019 Annual Tribute Dinner, Frank Sciame of Sciame Construction.

Frank Sciame founded Sciame Construction in 1975, leading the firm to its current position as one of the tri-state’s (NY-NJ-CT) leading construction management firms, with current projects underway valued at over one billion dollars with the help of the Sciame staff, some of the best construction executives in the City, he has steadily grown the firm over this period by producing consistently high-quality projects – with tenacity, creativity and meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of his work.

With a degree in architecture from The City College of NY, he is sought out by top designers as a construction partner. He has been referred to as a builder with the vision of an architect. Completed projects include the addition to the Morgan Library and Museum, Pratt Institute School of Architecture, Central Synagogue Restoration, Harvard Club of New York City, the South Court Addition to New York Public Library’s Main Branch, the new Academic Building for Cooper Union and the FDR Four Freedoms Park Memorial on Roosevelt Island.  Current projects include new buildings for Columbia Medical Center, Collegiate School, Princeton University, CUNY – New York City College of Technology New Academic Building and The Shed at Hudson Yards.  In 1996, Frank formed the real estate development firm Sciame Development.

Frank’s accomplishments, contributions and his dedication to preserving New York City’s treasures have been recognized with numerous honors. In 2004, CCNY awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts degree.  Among his commitments, he is a current Executive Committee Board Member and Past-Chairman of both the New York Landmarks Conservancy and the New York Building Congress.  He also serves on the Boards of the Association for Lower Manhattan and The City College 21st Century Foundation.  Frank is also a Member of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations Industry Advisory Group.  And is serving as current Chairman of the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate Construction Management Advisory Board.

In 2006, Mr. Sciame was appointed by Governor Pataki and Mayor Bloomberg to lead the effort to ensure a buildable World Trade Center Memorial. He was asked to align the budget and the design by working with the families of the victims and many other stakeholders to define a viable project for New York and the Nation. His design recommendations (included as part of National Geographic’s Official Book of the National September 11 Memorial) were implemented.  Mr. Sciame and his advisors took great pride when the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, was built and opened successfully under the recommended plan.

Frank and his wife of 43 years, Barbara, are the proud parents of four children: Andrew, Alexandra, FJ and Fionna, five grandsons and two granddaughters.

The funds raised at St. Mary’s Tribute Dinner will go towards caring for over 3,000 children daily who are challenged with serious illness, severe injury, and complications of premature birth at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children, at home, and in the community.
