St. Mary’s Hospital for Children Supports Breastfeeding Mothers

As part of their ongoing work to support mothers in the workplace, St. Mary’s Hospital for Children will be unveiling a new lactation suite from Mamava, a company dedicated to transforming the culture of breastfeeding. This unit will be conveniently placed just outside the hospital’s lobby and will be available for use by all employees and authorized visitors who require privacy while pumping or breastfeeding.

“St. Mary’s Hospital for Children is proud to be a supportive, welcoming environment for all our employees and visitors, especially those who are working mothers” said Dr. Edwin Simpser, President and CEO of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children. “We’re thrilled to be opening the Mamava lactation suite, which will increase the availability of private space for breastfeeding and pumping.”

“We’re thrilled to support breastfeeding mamas at St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children,” said Sascha Mayer, Co-founder and CEO of Mamava. “We believe that all mamas deserve a clean, comfortable, and dignified place to use a breast pump or breastfeed distraction-free—anywhere, anytime. Mamava pods provide flexibility for facilities and easy access for moms.”

The lactation suite will be located in the seating area just outside the lobby, across from the chapel. It will be available to all employees and authorized visitors to St. Mary’s through the Mamava phone app, or a special key code which will be provided by the St. Mary’s human resources department.

While St. Mary’s has an existing lactation room on the ground floor of the original building, the Mamava lactation suite will increase the availability of private space and will make the transition back to work easier for nursing mothers.
