“My motivation each and every day is to do the best job possible in hopes that my presence and skill-set will facilitate improved levels of functioning for my patients. My ultimate goal is to make each day better for my patients and their families,” says Carla Villanella, a speech pathologist at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children.
As a speech pathologist, Carla works to improve the level of functioning and quality for our patients by facilitating improved speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, feeding, swallowing and/or aerodigestive function. Carla also provides education to patients and their families regarding observed delays and/or disorders and therapeutic interventions necessary to improve their level of function.
Carla feels St. Mary’s is unique in that it provides both comprehensive and thorough care to each of its patients. Each member of the patients’ medical team personally knows their emotional and medical needs, which allows them to invest in the well-being of the patient and allows for improved continuum of care.
“I am humbled by the inspiration St. Mary’s Kids provides me on a daily basis. Seeing the progress they make everything is truly inspiring.”
