What do you find the most reward about working at St Mary’s?

What I find most rewarding about working at St. Mary’s is the people—both the colleagues I work alongside and the incredible children and families we support. Over the past six years, I’ve had the privilege of being part of numerous teams that are compassionate, collaborative, and truly dedicated to making a difference. Every day, I get to witness the resilience, joy, and growth of our students, and being even a small part of their progress is deeply meaningful. Watching our students develop and grow into their own personalities while building long-lasting relationships with our staff is extraordinary.

In what ways do you collaborate with others in your organization/team?

I collaborate with others in many meaningful ways, both within my classroom and throughout the larger early education team. As an interdisciplinary team of classroom staff, related service providers, and medical staff, we have a strong, supportive relationship built on open communication. We discuss classroom needs, students’ progress, and any challenges that arise, making sure we are always aligned and working together to create the best possible learning environment for our students. We love to discuss fun day-to-day highlights and milestones of our students, develop strategies and problem solve so each child receives consistent and thorough support.

Can you share a heartwarming story or memorable moment from your experience working with pediatric patients?

Something memorable that comes to mind is a moment I had with a student in the hallway of St Mary’s my first year teaching. This student was typically engaging in self-injurious behaviors and had an especially difficult time transitioning to school. We were going for our scheduled walk together and I had decided to try to play hide and seek with him to engage him in a different way and see how it went. I ran and looked back at him, and it was the first time he truly smiled and laughed out loud, while chasing me down in the hall. I felt like in that moment, every effort leading up to it felt truly worthwhile. It was the kind of moment where I really felt the impact of every challenge, we had overcome to get there. It seems so small, but it has been one of the most meaningful memories to date.

Chloe’s story is a powerful reminder of the impact that patience, teamwork, and genuine care can have on a child’s life. From fostering strong collaboration across interdisciplinary teams to cherishing the small but meaningful milestones of her students, Chloe exemplifies what it means to make a difference every day. We are grateful for her dedication to St. Mary’s Kids and the lasting relationships she builds with our students, families, and staff.
