East Coast Cars Holds Annual “Toys for Tots Car Run” For Kids of St. Mary’s

Car Lovers Raise over $12,000 to Support Children with Special Needs

Classic car and motorcycle lovers joined in a police escorted parade to deliver bundles of joy and excitement to some very eager children at St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children, one of the region’s largest providers of intensive rehabilitation, specialized medical care and education for children with special needs.

On Sunday, November 15th, the members of East Coast Car Association, Inc. tooted their horns, revved their engines and burned rubber as they rolled into the bayside hospital for the annual “Toys for Tots Car Run.” Antique custom cars and classic motorcycles lined up, all filled with loads of presents and holiday surprises for the young patients.

These car lovers may have a deep passion for hoods and engines, but have an even greater passion for St. Mary’s kids. The group also raised over $13,000 to help support the innovative programs and services that St. Mary’s offers to over 4,000 children battling complex medical conditions throughout the New York Metropolitan are and beyond.

Other groups involved were the NYPD Highway 3, NYPD 104th precinct, G-cops of Glendale, Knight of Columbus #569, Vietnam Veterans Chapter 32, Staten Island Metro Fire Department, and The Glendale Volunteer Ambulance Corps, who all participated in support of St. Mary’s kids.

The annual Toys for Tots Car Run, sponsored and founded by East Coast Cars, was created in 1999 to bring an early holiday to the children of St. Mary’s. Over the last decade, East Coast Cars has generously supported St. Mary’s efforts to help improve the quality of life for children with special needs, raising more than $60,000 for the organization through in-kind donations, car shows, cruise nights and the annual Toys for Tots run.
