Hofstra Dance Team Brings Champion Performances to St. Mary’s

College Students Uplift Holiday Spirits with Debut Dance Performance

A group of dancers with high spirits and kind hearts spent an afternoon entertaining children and families at St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children.

Students and performers from Hofstra University’s Dance Team in Hempstead, Long Island, traveled to St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children to put on a holiday dance show for St. Mary’s kids, some of the most seriously ill and injured children battling complex medical and life-limiting conditions.

The group of young dancers, trained at one of the premier college dance programs in the United States, flawlessly performed to holiday favorites and even got St. Mary’s kids to take the floor, singing and dancing along.

The group then spent the rest of the time talking and hanging out with their new friends at the bayside hospital.

“It was such a rewarding experience and my team loves coming to St. Mary’s. We’re definitely excited to return and look forward to getting involved in future events,” said Stephanie Murphy, captain of the team.

Stephanie and her team members have also volunteered their time in St. Mary’s Foundation in the past, and are eager to continue supporting children with special needs.

The Hofstra Dance Team has been nationally ranked for the past 14 years and has been in the top five in their categories for 10 of those years. The team has also competed locally and is ranked #1 among colleges on Long Island.
