Walk Celebrates St. Mary’s 140th Year Anniversary While Raising Funds and Awareness for Special Needs Families

The Knights of Columbus are known as the neighborhood heroes and St. Mary’s very own knight and shining armors.

This Council Charity Team has been a long time supporter of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children, and it’s no surprise they have returned for another year to support the 8th Annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids on Sunday, May 20th at Fort Totten Park in Bayside, NY.

Thousands of patients, staff, families and community members are expected at the 8th Annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids to help raise funds and awareness for children and families with special needs while celebrating a huge milestone in St. Mary’s history- Its 140th Year Anniversary.

St. Mary’s began caring forNew York City’s most vulnerable children in 1872 and since has become one of the premier providers of intensive rehabilitation, specialized medical care and education for over 4,000 children with complex medical and life-limiting conditions.

The Knights of Columbus are already gathering friends, family and tons of supporters to help St. Mary’s celebrate 140 year of unrivaled care.

“Our Council’s Charity Team is a group of our Members, Family and Friends who are always ready to get involved for a good Cause. I can’t think of a Cause greater than the dedicated Staff, remarkable Volunteers and over-the-top Children of St. Mary’s. Join us, we guarantee you’ll have a good time!” said Freddie Jost, Grand Knight of Council #569

The Knights of Columbus in Flushing, NY is part of the world’s largest family fraternal service organization with nearly 1.7 million members that aims to uplift the community by helping local charitable organizations carry out its mission, are always giving back to the community and finding news ways to bring care and compassion to children and families across the New York Metropolitan area.

The Knights have spent sleepless nights raising funds & awareness to support programs and services at St. Mary’s through numerous fundraising events such as the yearly “Toys for Tots,” car run held in collaboration with East Coast Cars where they rally friends and family to donate toys, gifts and holiday surprises for St. Mary’s Kids.

Every year, the Knights are responsible for gathering crowds of walkers for St. Mary’s Annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids and play a huge role in coordinating logistics for the day.  They are always front and center at all events that benefit St. Mary’s Kids.

Whether the Knights are busy making St. Mary’s t-shirts and souvenirs, sending out emails and flyers soliciting support for St. Mary’s events, or rounding up crowds of supporters, these generous members can always be found spreading their generosity and kindness. Their unconditional passion for the St. Mary’s community is commendable and all their hard work, dedication, strong spirit, and long hours of advocating have not gone unnoticed.

St. Mary’s Kids and staff are big fans of the Knights and look forward to seeing them at the 8th Annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids on Sunday, May 20th at Fort Totten Park in Bayside, NY.
