Lottie Lomangino Inspired by Children & Starts Walk Team for 8th Annual Walk

“Lottie Dottie Don’t Know Nobody.” What a unique name for a Walk team!

But Lottie Lomangino, a regular volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children had a little help coming up the creative name. A patient at St. Mary’s who enjoyed rapping; one day began having a little fun with Lottie and made up a name to tease her. Since then, it stuck and Lottie appropriately decided to use the name as her Walk team to honor the young patient.

Lottie is on a personal mission to make a difference in the lives of St. Mary’s kids.  As a dedicated volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children, Lottie can be found several days a week on the patient units, in the recreation area, or on the playground – helping all of St. Mary’s patients achieve all they can.

It’s no surprise Lottie has started a Walk team and is soliciting friends and family to support the 8th Annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids on Sunday, May 20th at Fort Totten Park in Bayside where thousands of patients, staff, families and community members are expected to help raise funds and awareness for children and families with special needs while celebrating a huge milestone in St. Mary’s history- Its 140th Year Anniversary.

St. Mary’s began caring for New York City’s most vulnerable children in 1872 and since has become one of the premier providers of intensive rehabilitation, specialized medical care and education for over 4,000 children with complex medical and life-limiting conditions.

Lottie understands the St. Mary’s mission better than anyone and for years has been a part of helping to carry out that mission. She never misses an opportunity to spend time with St. Mary’s Kids and always has a smile doing it. Her compassion and dedication is remarkable and St. Mary’s Kids love spending time with her.

“St. Mary’s children are my passion and they humble and inspire me, said Lottie. I look forward to spending time with them doing homework, playing games or just being in their presence.”

You can join Lottie and her team, “Lottie Dottie Don’t Know Nobody” and thousands of other participants on Sunday, May 20th, at Fort Totten Park in Bayside for the 8th Annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids.
