Music Beats Hearts shares the Joy of Music with St. Mary’s Kids

Music Therapy plays an important role in the far-reaching care that St. Mary’s provides to New York’s sickest children. Recently St. Mary’s Kids were treated to a special day of music and inspiration by Music Beats Hearts—a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing music therapy to children in hospitals by creating preprogrammed playlists on Ipods. The iPods are then distributed to patients, who also receive a tutorial on how to use the device. Each iPod is filled with uplifting songs, compiled by music executives and the musicians themselves.

Jordan Stern, one of the founders of Music Beats Hearts attended the event. Years ago, his younger brother had received services from St. Mary’s. He shared that his experience influenced his decision to return to St. Mary’s to share the joys of music.
