New York Islanders Bring Holidays Gifts and Spread Cheer to Patients of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children

Hockey Heroes Distribute Toys and Spend Time with Special Needs Children & Their Families

Players from New York’s hometown hockey team returned to St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children to pay a special visit to some old friends they keep close to their hearts.

Heroic athletes from The New York Islanders once again came face to face with their biggest fans- St. Mary’s kids.

Islanders, Freddy Meyer, Jack Hillen, Bruno Gervais, and Dwayne Roloson took the day off from the ice ring to distribute toys and spend time with some of New York’s most seriously ill and injured children in the New York area battling complex medical and life-limiting conditions.

Bearing loads of holiday toys and surprises, the players greeted each patient with autographed shirts and pictures, along with a special present to kick off the holidays.

Joining the Islanders players was 11-year old Raymond Mohler Jr., founder and creator of the Little Saint Nick Foundation, an organization that helps brings joy to hospitalized children through entertainment, activities, and education.

Little Ray joined the players in sending heartfelt greetings and warm smiles to each and every patient.

Each year, the New York hockey team along with little Ray from the Little Saint Nick Foundation, find a little time and kindness to visit with the young patients of the Bayside hospital. For them, it’s a privilege, but for St. Mary’s kids, it’s one of the best holiday surprises they could receive.
