Runner Celebrates 35th Birthday with 35 Races for Children of St. Mary’s

Donations Will Benefit After School, Weekend and Summer Camp Program at St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children

On Saturday, December 5th, runner Michael Rodgers crossed the finish line of the Joe Klienerman 10k in Central Park – his 35th and final race of 2010 – and made his goal of raising $20,000 for St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children.

“I had the privilege of serving as the interim Vice President for the Foundation at St. Mary’s a couple years ago,” Rodgers wrote in a letter to supporters. “My life was significantly impacted by seeing families’ lives changed by the incredible work of the caring staff.”

Rodgers turned 35 August 2 and has run nearly 400 miles in races across the country since January 2010, competing in the ING New York City Marathon, the Boston Marathon, a half-Ironman triathlon, two 24-hour 200 mile relay races and seven half marathons and a 1m dash down 5th Avenue. He also set personal records (PRs) at six different distances this year. Rodgers’ original goal was to raise $10,000 for St. Mary’s along the way, but the outpouring of support has allowed him to double the goal to $20,000 for 2010.
