St. Mary’s Chosen as Beneficiary of the Pleasantville Music Festival Headlined by Son of the Legendary Bob Dylan

Jakob Dylan Set to Perform at 6th Annual Festival

Organizers of the Pleasantville Music festival has chosen St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children as the beneficiary of the 6th Annual family-friendly festival to be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010, that will be headlined by Jakob Dylan, former Wallflowers front man and son of music legend Bob Dylan.

St. Mary’s was proud to be chosen as the charitable beneficiary especially in the midst of it’s summer campaign aimed towards preventing head injuries. St. Mary’s is urging all young people and their parents to get “Head Smart” and prevent brain injury – the leading cause of injury-related death and disability for kids and young adults.

The crowd will be riled by this year’s performances, especially Dylan who joins the Pleasantville Music Festival not long after the April release of his sophomore solo album, “Women + Country,” a blend of country, folk, blues, gospel and rock. He began his solo career in 2008 with the release of an acoustic album, “Seeing Things. “One Headlight,” Dylan’s hit single with the Wallflowers from their platinum-selling album, “Bringing Down the Horse,” earned the band two Grammys for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song in the late 90s.

The festival has also confirmed performances by Rusted Root and the Bacon Brothers, band Carney, whose lead singer will perform in Spiderman on Broadway this fall, local blues-rock favorite Evan Watson & The Headless Horsemen, Rhett Tyler, and Ten Feet Deep. The festival features 19 bands on three stages and more than 50 food and craft vendors including Pleasantville’s own Captain Lawrence Brewery and Prospero’s Winery, award-winners at their respective crafts.

Since its inception, the Pleasantville Music Festival has featured such performers as Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Joan Osborne, World Party, Roger McGuinn, Dar Williams, Davey Knowles and Back Door Slam, Hill Country Revue, Graham Parker, Jonatha Brooke, Shawn Mullins and a veritable who’s who of fan favorite regional performers.

The 2010 Pleasantville Music Festival will be presented by 107.1 FM, (WXPK) The Peak, the popular Westchester-based radio station that has acted as Festival presenter for five years. Dedicated to hosting world-class music with an emphasis on regional performers, the Festival has become a “must save the date” event for music lovers throughout the Hudson Valley.

A family-friendly event, the Festival has entertainment and activities aimed at kids including free games and face-painting. The popular vendor area features local crafts, delicious food and exhibits by local charities. A special Kid’s musical performance by ”Gigi & the Lend a Hand Band” will take place in the Kid’s Area.

The Pleasantville Music Festival will run from 12 noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Parkway Field on Marble Avenue.
