Golfers Hit the Greens to Help Raise Funds & Awareness for St. Mary’s Innovative Programs and Services Provided to Over 4,000 Children with Special Needs
Over 150 golfers joined Derek McGovern of Hunter Roberts Interiors, the 2010 Golf Honoree, at St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children’s 24th Annual Golf Outing held at Glen Head Country Club in Glen Head, Long Island, to help raise funds and awareness for St. Mary’s kids.
St. Mary’s annual golf outing brings businesses, community leaders, and volunteers together for a great cause—to raise awareness and funds for children with special needs. Each year, an honoree who portrays commitment and outstanding leadership skills to serve the children of St. Mary’s, is honored for his or her efforts. This year, St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children was proud to honor Derek McGovern.
Derek’s leading expertise in the construction industry has garnered him quite a reputation. After graduating College with a degree in Business focused on Economics and Finance, he started as an Assistant Super at his father’s business, Lehrer McGovern and gradually worked his way up to Project Manager taking on larger high-level projects. His interest peaked even more and Derek really began to get a hold of the ropes. He continued to work at Lehrer McGovern until his father sold the business. By then, Derek had a well-rounded knowledge of the business and his experience was evident as he began to receive notable construction projects throughout New York City.
Derek joined Hunter Roberts Construction Group in 2006 at Executive Vice President of Project Administration for the Hunter Roberts Interiors Division.
St. Mary’s was proud to honor Derek McGovern for his outstanding dedication and commitment to helping support the innovative programs and services St. Mary’s provides to over 4,000 with special needs due to serious illness, injury or complications of premature birth.
Over 150 golfers supported the annual outing and enjoyed a day putting on the greens followed by a cocktail hour and dinner accompanied with raffle drawings, auctions, and prizes.
Proceeds of the golf outing are dedicated to building the “Golfers for St. Mary’s Playground” to promote therapeutic healing and recreation for St. Mary’s kids.
