St. Mary’s Hosts Winter Fun Fest

More than 150 children with special needs were treated to their very own Winter Wonderland during the February break from school at St. Mary’s annual Winter Fun Fest celebration, held at Terrace on the Park in Flushing, NY.

St. Mary’s inpatient, after school and home care patients spent the afternoon alongside caregivers and families enjoying winter-themed games and arts and crafts. Volunteers from JP Morgan’s New Associates Program spent months organizing the incredible carnival of activities – from face painting and paper snowflake construction to bowling, basketball shooting contests, and dancing – all to give St. Mary’s Kids a very special day they won’t soon forget.

The annual celebration is a favorite with St. Mary’s patients, who are among some of the most seriously ill and injured children in the New York region.

“Winter Fest is about celebrating St. Mary’s Kids and is a perfect example of their ability to heal and thrive with the right care,” said St. Mary’s President Jeff Frerichs. “Many of our young patients are battling life-limiting conditions, and they continue to astound us with their resilience and spirit.”

St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children provides intensive rehabilitation, specialized care, and education to 4,000 children each day in the New York Metropolitan region and beyond through its family-centered inpatient, home, and community programs.
