Teacher & Students from Flushing High School Bring Day of Sports Activities to St. Mary’s Kids to Encourage Rehabilitation

St. Mary’s Kids Enjoy a Day of Fun Activities and Create New Friendships

Coach and teacher, Elvis Hanif and the girls and boy volleyball team from Flushing High School spent their Saturday at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children teaching patients the ropes of Volleyball and hosting fun sports activities.

The children of St. Mary’s, some of the most seriously ill and injured children battling complex medical and life-limiting conditions didn’t hold back as they were encouraged in relay races, push ups and sit up contests, basic stretches and warm-up exercises.

“We wanted to do something different that would help the kids. This was an exciting opportunity for my students to give back to the community and hang out with some extraordinary kids who may not otherwise have the opportunity, said Mr. Hanif. We really enjoyed the day.”

St. Mary’s Kids also feel the same and had a great workout and incredible opportunity to create new friendships.
