Theatre by the Bay Brings “The Wizard of Oz” to St. Mary’s Patients

Dorothy, the Wicked Witch, Tin Man, The Scarecrow and Lion all made an appearance at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children with their spectacular rendition of the beloved magical adventure that has dazzled audiences for years, “The Wizard of Oz.”

In an effort to bring a little joy to young patients of St. Mary’s, some of NY’s most seriously ill and injured children battling complex medical and life-limiting conditions, the energetic and talented cast from Theatre By the Bay in Bayside, Queens performed popular musical numbers such as “Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead,” “If I Only had a Heart,” and “Over the Rainbow.” The popular numbers were enjoyed by patients of all ages who sang along.

This is Theatre by the Bay’s 3rd Annual performance at St. Mary’s and the young singing starlets keep coming back year after year to entertain their friends at St. Mary’s whom they’ve formed a special bond with and keep close to their hearts.

Founded in 2004, Theatre by the Bay is the community theatre group of Bay Terrace Jewish Center in Bayside and past productions include “Gypsy,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Carousel,” “The Pajama Game,” and many more.
