Volunteers Bring Spring Flowers to the St. Mary’s Grounds

Bayside, NY – Spring is in the air at St. Mary’s. Plants are budding, flowers are blooming, and bold, beautiful colors now grace our landscape – thanks to two wonderful volunteer groups who visited St. Mary’s. On two separate days in May, friends from XL Global Services and Goldman Sachs traded office space for open space to “beautify” the grounds of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children in Bayside.

On May 10, twelve volunteers from XL Global Services visited St. Mary’s as part of their Global Day of Giving program. Armed with tools, gloves, and a little sun, they were ready to tackle the Cloister Garden. They spent hours in the Garden planting perennial plants as well as a tree, which were generously donated by XL Global. To celebrate their efforts, a garden party was held in the new Cloister Garden with several of St. Mary’s children and our volunteers.

On May 23, an energetic group from Goldman Sachs came to St. Mary’s to add some flair to the main entrance landscape. They planted the long driveway and surrounding areas in record time – leaving enough time for arts and crafts projects with our younger children. Later that afternoon, we celebrated in style under the covered patio with our children and volunteers.

The staff and children of St. Mary’s would like to thank all of these wonderful volunteers for their hard work.
