St. Mary’s Hospital for Children has received a $7,500 grant from the enCourage Kids Foundation‘s Jay Anderson Pediatric Hospital Support Program (PHSP) to support exciting enhancements to the activity rooms at our Bayside campus.
The funding will support upgrades to our hospital’s activity rooms, helping us create even more opportunities for our Medical Day Healthcare (MDHC) participants to connect, learn, play, and explore in ways that are meaningful to them.

For many of the children and young adults we serve, our activity rooms are more than just spaces for recreation. They are places where friendships are built, communication skills are strengthened, and participants can engage in activities that support their individual interests and abilities. This grant will help us add adaptive and sensory-focused equipment, accessible furnishings, and interactive technology that will make these spaces even more welcoming and engaging for everyone.
“This grant will help us create environments where our young adults can connect with others, explore their interests, and participate more fully in daily activities,” said Jillian Quinn, Program Director of the Medical Day Health Care Program at St. Mary’s Hospital for Children. “The enhancements will provide new opportunities for socialization, learning, and recreation while supporting each individual’s unique strengths, abilities, and goals.”
We are grateful that the enCourage Kids Foundation chose to invest in the children and young adults we serve at St. Mary’s. Their support will help us continue to create joyful, inclusive experiences that promote engagement, independence, and a sense of belonging throughout the MDHC program.
This year, enCourage Kids Foundation awarded $255,000 to 29 pediatric healthcare facilities nationwide through the 2026 Jay Anderson Pediatric Hospital Support Program. Over the past 30 years, the program has provided more than $17 million in support of nearly 1,000 projects that enhance the experiences of pediatric patients and their families.
